The Board has recently approved the purchase of a new greenfield site in North Warrnambool that will allow us to fulfill our vision for a purpose-built, state of the art, community hub.
We have outgrown our existing facilities and the site being purchased at the corner of Wangoom and Mortlake roads includes the North Edge Childcare and Kindergarten Centre, a 4-bedroom house, and two blocks of land, which will give us ample room for expansion of all our existing services. There are no plans to change the way in which the childcare centre operates, with current childcare and kindergarten programming continuing and all staff being retained.
Over the coming months, we will continue to invite input into plans for the site which we expect will ultimately become Mpower’s primary base. This is an exciting opportunity to build on the ideas generated by staff over the past couple of years and from feedback from our clients, participants and families.
Our current hope is that contract settlement will take place by April 2023. Much planning will take place over the coming year, with construction nearing completion at the end of 2025.
On a practical level, the change will have minimal impact on Mpower services and on our day-to-day operations. We will keep you fully informed along the way.
